Bright colours are coming back!

Posted by John in Fashion Brands - (Comments Off)

YYes ladies, the bright colours are becoming trendy again and it is time for some fashion advice on when to wear these colourful dresses .

Size and Length
When buying a dress, it is always important to remember that the size as well as the length of the dress should fit correctly. We don’t want the dress to be too tight but tight enough to show off the curves. Always try a dress on when purchasing a dress at a normal retailer or read the product description when buying it online. In terms of the length of the dress, the rule of thumb here is “the more formal the occasion the longer the dress”. Also, if you are a petite lady, I would suggest buying a dress like the mini tulip dress with flute sleeves above, as this won’t make you look too small. Make sure to wear some stunning high heels with your dresses instead of flats or ballerina’s because the dress is a very feminine piece of clothing and should remain that way.

Skin tone
Bright colours can be worn by everyone but you may still need to try the dress on if you are unsure whether the dress will compliment your skin tone. Darker skin toned ladies won’t have too many worries because bright colours usually look great on darker skin. Lighter skin toned ladies however need to take the colour into account. For example, if your skin is very light and you’ve got blond hair as well, don’t go for yellow dresses but opt for blue. Beige is also a colour to stay away from for light skin toned ladies. If you are unsure about the type of colour or are just not that into colours then go for black. Black dresses can be combined with almost everything and will always look good on any type of skin.

Happy shopping!

First up, ghd Glamour – perfect for 50’s glamour. The ghd Glamour stylers come with two sectioning clips plus a heat resistant Glamour era inspired bag and a beautifully laid out lookbook. The styler included in this particular era is the ghd Gold Classic styler, the best and most luxurious to date.

The Boho Chic era also comes with the Gold Classic styler and again comes with two sectioning clips, but the heat resistant bag has a real boho vibe and we absolutely love it. This bag could quite easily be used for other purposes and would be perfect for festivals when you have to leave your ghd’s behind.

Last, but not least, we have the New Wave design, also with the Classic Gold styler but this time with a vibrant, new wave inspired heat resistant bag, two sectioning clips and a ‘get the look’ book. Bring back the eighties and team bouncy curls with colour blocking for an on trend look.

These are Limited Edition collections, so get yours while stocks are still available and take advantage of the low price while it lasts.

Each Classic Gold styler comes with ceramic heated and rounded barrels; sleep mode and universal voltage plus a protective guard for those precious plates. ghd straighteners are guaranteed for two years and buying from the ghd website will guarantee authenticity.

ghd Through the Years

Known worldwide as a retailer of top quality straighteners, ghd, or Good Hair Day, actually goes under the working name of Jemella Ltd. Few people know that, even though the name is there in very small print on the brand’s official website, just as very few people know the true history of one of the fastest growing hair product brands in not only the UK, but the world!

Contrary to popular assumption, ghd is a UK brand – not only that, it’s a brand that originated in Leeds, up north in Yorkshire. The company was founded back in 2001 when ex-salon stylist Robert Powls recognised the gap in the market for high quality heat styling products. He and his two business partners, Gary Douglas and Martin Penny, acquired the rights to an innovative new hair straightener that had been invented in South Korea. So, ghd was born, originally a brand of straightener sold only in salons. The brand expanded to be sold in Australia a year later in 2002.

For the first two years of its existence, ghd didn’t advertise its brand. Initially this was probably to keep costs low until the company was up and running, but the ghd straighteners proved so popular that their fame was spread effectively by word of mouth so no further advertising was needed. It wasn’t until 2003 that ghd launched its first ad campaign as the sponsor of British reality TV show The Salon. That year it also expanded into South Africa, Spain, Italy and Scandinavia, as well as launching to new models of straighteners, the salon and mini stylers.

In 2004 ghd decided to take enter the North American market, and is now known there as ghd USA. That was also the year that ghd launched its involvement with the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity, releasing a limited edition pink styler. A percentage of all profit made from these stylers went to the charity. The company has retained this affiliation with the charity for six years, releasing a new pink model every year in order to raise more funds.

In 2006, ghd launched in Spain and Germany. The company underwent a lot of upheaval that year, as the Jemella Group was bought by Lloyds Development Capita and sold just eleven months later to Montagu Private Equity. However, that seems to have little detrimental effect on the brand, as ghd straighteners continue to be considered the best in the world!
